Khaadem causes upset with 80-1 victory in Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes

The Unpredictable Khaadem Causes a Stir at Royal Ascot

Royal Ascot is one of the most anticipated events in the horse racing calendar. The Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes, one of its highlights, attracts some of the best sprinters from around the world. This year’s race was no exception.

In an 80-1 upset, Khaadem took home the prize and left everyone stunned. Trained by Charlie Hills and ridden by Jamie Spencer, who had already won big with Witch Hunter earlier in the week, Khaadem showed that he could hold his own against top-notch competition.

    A Patient Ride Pays Off

Given Spencer’s patient ride on Khaadem and his exquisite timing towards the end of the race, it was clear that this win was well-deserved. Highfield Princess led one group throughout while The Astrologist and Kinross led another group on the far side.

Sacred seemed to be heading for victory over a furlong out but couldn’t hold off a charging Khaadem who produced just enough to secure first place. Sacred finished second while Highfield Princess took third place.

Khaadem Has Come A Long Way Since Last Year

Last year at Royal Ascot’s King Stand race things didn’t go so well for Khaadem as he sat down in stalls leaving Jaimie Spencer standing helplessly; however this year proved otherwise!

Charlie Hills expressed his belief after winning: “I’ve always believed in him (Khaadum), he does have his quirks but most sprinters do.”

Jamie Spencer Revels In His Success

Jamie Spencer spoke about how delighted he was with such a fantastic win, “Winning Group Ones is hard, and getting on the horses in Group Ones is the hardest part, but it’s a fantastic day and I’m going to enjoy it.”

A Bittersweet Victory For William Haggas

William Haggas was thrilled with Sacred’s performance despite her being caught by Khaadem. He said: “It is mixed emotions. I am thrilled with the way she has run, but gutted that she has got caught. That’s racing…”

    Highfield Princess Battles On

The John Quinn-trained Highfield Princess put up a good fight as usual and finished strong despite not winning; Jason Hart praised her for putting up an excellent effort.

Royal Ascot never fails to deliver top-class horse racing action year after year – we can’t wait until next time!
