Germany’s Lennard Kamna Secures Stage Nine Victory in Vuelta a Espana

In a stunning display of strength and determination, Germany’s Lennard Kamna emerged victorious on stage nine of the Vuelta a Espana. The American rider Sepp Kuss held onto his leader’s red jersey as the race unfolded.

    Kamna Triumphs with Sole Effort

Italy’s Matteo Sobrero finished second, while Australia’s Chris Hamilton secured third place on the challenging 184.5km stage from Cartagena to Collado de la Cruz de Caravaca. Despite poor conditions at the finish line, resulting in an adjustment in general classification (GC) times awarded two kilometers early, Kamna managed to break away from his competitors during the steep final climb towards victory.

“I’m super happy. I worked really hard over the last couple of months,” expressed an ecstatic Kamna after his triumphant win. “The constantly changing terrain made it challenging to find my moment to surpass my rivals.”

Having now conquered stages at all three Grand Tours – Tour de France (2020), Giro d’Italia (2022), and now Vuelta a Espana – Kamna has solidified his status as one of cycling’s most versatile riders.

    Race Standings After Stage Nine

With a rest day scheduled for Monday, Sepp Kuss continues to lead the overall race by an impressive margin of 43 seconds.

The current standings reveal some minor adjustments after stage nine. Reigning champion Remco Evenepoel climbed two spots into fourth position, trailing Kuss by a margin of two minutes and 22 seconds. Additionally, Primoz Roglic and Jonas Vingegaard, winners of this year’s Giro d’Italia and Tour de France respectively, each moved up one spot to sixth and seventh place in the general classification. Unfortunately for Wout Poels, he slipped from fourth to twenty-first position.

Amongst British riders competing in the race, Hugh Carthy holds the highest placement at fourteenth position with just over four minutes behind the leader. Geraint Thomas, former Tour de France winner, currently sits at twenty-second place with a deficit of twelve minutes and 34 seconds.
