Little Big Bear joins the impressive line-up of Maurice de Gheest race

Little Big Bear Set to Compete in Prix Maurice de Gheest

Last year’s champion juvenile, Little Big Bear, has had a rollercoaster season so far. After returning from injury and finishing last in the 2000 Guineas, trainer Aidan O’Brien worked his magic and guided him to victory at Haydock in the Sandy Lane Stakes.

The momentum seemed to be building as Little Big Bear headed to Royal Ascot for the Commonwealth Cup. However, a stunning late surge from Shaquille dashed his hopes of victory.

In preparation for the July Cup, there were concerns over his fitness due to a minor setback. Although he made it to the race, he struggled with limited space on the track and finished at the back of the pack.

Now, Little Big Bear is ready for another challenge as he heads to Deauville for Sunday’s prestigious Prix Maurice de Gheest. With 13 contenders still vying for glory including Khaadem, Art Power, Rohaan, and Cold Case; this race promises fierce competition.

O’Brien commented on their decision: “We’ve decided to supplement him for this race and so far he seems in good form. We’ll make a final decision closer to the weekend but our current plan is to run.”

The ground conditions are testing at Deauville currently but they can change quickly. Little Big Bear had some health issues prior to Newmarket but since then has shown no signs of trouble,” added O’Brien eagerly.
