Matheson Hurdle: Public Opinions and Reactions

Daryl Jacob Excited to Seize Opportunity with Impaire Et Passe in Matheson Hurdle

In a thrilling turn of events, jockey Daryl Jacob is brimming with excitement as he prepares to ride the talented Impaire Et Passe in the highly anticipated Matheson Hurdle at Leopardstown on Friday.

With only four contenders set to compete in this Grade One race over two miles, it comes as no surprise that three of them are trained by the renowned Willie Mullins. Mullins has dominated this event over the years, winning all but three renewals since 2010. Notably, horses like Hurricane Fly and Sharjah have claimed victory multiple times under his guidance.

Last year’s champion trainer triumphed with State Man, who once again takes center stage ridden by Paul Townend. This left the door open for Daryl Jacob to secure the mount on last year’s impressive Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle winner – Impaire Et Passe. As a retained rider for owners Simon Munir and Isaac Souede in the UK, Jacob couldn’t be more thrilled about his leading position.

Impaire Et Passe suffered their first defeat upon returning this season during Hatton’s Grace. In response, Mullins made an intriguing decision by shortening their distance to two miles for this hurdle race. However, given the testing ground conditions caused by heavy rain throughout Ireland earlier in the week and Impaire Et Passe’s proven ability over longer distances combined with speed, Jacob believes that stamina will play a crucial role.

“I’m genuinely excited to ride Impaire Et Passe. This horse is an incredible prospect for Simon, Isaac, and everyone involved. Each race is a stepping stone towards greater things,” Jacob expressed with enthusiasm.

Having ridden the horse on Thursday morning, Jacob confirms that Impaire Et Passe seems in excellent form despite the challenging ground conditions. “The rain has made the hurdle course soft, even heavy at times. However, Impaire Et Passe has proven his capability on such terrain before. With his previous victories over longer distances and impressive speed, I don’t foresee any issues arising from the ground.”

Daryl Jacob’s recent successful streak boasts a strike-rate exceeding 40 percent over the past two weeks alone. A win in Friday’s Matheson Hurdle would be icing on the cake for this accomplished jockey who strives to end the year with another prestigious Grade One victory:

“I’ve tasted success recently, but securing a Grade One win before the new year would be truly remarkable,” he shared.
