Possible Appointment of Caldwell Potter for Dublin Racing Festival

Connections Excited as Caldwell Potter Shines at Leopardstown

Caldwell Potter’s impressive victory at Leopardstown over the Christmas period has left connections buzzing with excitement. Trained by Gordon Elliott, the six-year-old emerged as a clear winner in the Grade One Paddy Power Future Champions Novice Hurdle.

The gelding was sent off at 6-1 odds for the highly competitive race but proved his mettle by pulling away from the field and securing a comfortable six-and-a-half-length triumph under jockey Jack Kennedy’s guidance.

    A Glimpse of Potential

This performance only scratched the surface of Caldwell Potter’s capabilities, according to Joey Logan, racing manager for Caldwell Construction Ltd. Logan believes that there is much more to come from this talented horse, who continues to improve with each outing.

“His form is exceptional,” said Logan. “He has been getting stronger and better with time. We hope this upward trajectory continues, as he possesses an undeniable charm throughout his races.”

Paving the Way for Dublin Racing Festival

Caldwell Potter could potentially return to Leopardstown for next month’s Dublin Racing Festival. The Tattersalls Ireland Novice Hurdle seems like an ideal opportunity for him to prepare himself for Cheltenham Festival later on.

“More than likely we will go back to Leopardstown,” added Logan. “It would be logical considering his current form and performance there. He could excel in either Supreme or Ballymore races without any trouble.”

    A Flying Start into 2023

The start of 2023 couldn’t have been better for Caldwell Construction team as Mollys Mango delivered an outstanding victory at Fairyhouse on New Year’s Day, completing a fantastic double for the stable. The six-year-old mare, previously placed at Listed level in a bumper, dominated the race by an impressive 17-length margin.

“Mollys Mango is an extraordinary mare,” commented Logan. “We have always held her in high regard. She had some setbacks before but managed to win her previous bumper comfortably and Jack mentioned that she felt exceptional during her recent race.”

    Looking Ahead

The Solerina Mares Novice Hurdle at Fairyhouse later this month could be on Mollys Mango’s agenda. The Caldwell Construction team will discuss their plans further, considering the potential suitability of the race for their talented mare.

    Jumping Into Action

In another positive development, Staffordshire Knot secured his first win in just his second attempt in the concluding bumper at Fairyhouse. With stamina flowing through his pedigree, he might soon begin jumping hurdles or continue competing in bumpers.

“Staffordshire Knot displayed great potential on the track,” said Logan. “Considering his family connections and strong performances so far, we might introduce him to hurdling or let him stay in bumpers for now. He has all the attributes of a promising prospect.”
