    Quotations on the July Cup

Champion Sprinter Emerges in Racing Season

As the racing season unfolds, a champion sprinter has caught the attention of onlookers. The three-year-old Shaquille, trained by Julie Camacho, has emerged as a strong contender for the title.

Shaquille boasts an impressive record with six wins out of seven races so far. His most recent triumph came at Royal Ascot where he overcame a challenging start to win the Commonwealth Cup against last year’s star juvenile Little Big Bear.

This victory showcased Shaquille’s ability to overcome setbacks and still deliver exceptional performances. While his quirks might raise eyebrows, they certainly don’t hinder his speed on the track.

If Shaquille secures a win in the Pertemps Network July Cup, he will be one step closer to claiming top honors this season. He aims to follow in the footsteps of Muhaarar by winning both the Commonwealth and July Cups consecutively.

“Shaquille seems to be in great form and has recovered well after Royal Ascot,” said trainer Julie Camacho. “He had a few days off before returning to training and everything is looking good.”

In contrast to his fierce appearance on race day, Shaquille is described as lovely and calm at home by Paige Harrison who looks after him during training sessions.

Assistant trainer Steve Brown added that Shaqiuile prefers leading during workouts but remains relaxed and laid back throughout his routine exercises.

    Maturing and Progressing Steadily

Shaquille’s performance has improved with each race, giving the trainers confidence in his potential. They were initially concerned about how he would handle Royal Ascot, but their worries quickly disappeared as Shaquille stepped onto the track with ease.

“He hadn’t put a foot wrong during warm-up and hadn’t broken a sweat,” said Brown. “We just hope he continues to mature and progress in the right direction.”

    A Change of Jockey

For the upcoming Pertemps Network July Cup, jockey Oisin Murphy is suspended, leaving room for Rossa Ryan to take the reins. While it will be Shaqiuile’s first time competing against older horses, his previous wins indicate that he is more than capable of rising to the challenge.

Little Big Bear Returns for Rematch

Aidan O’Brien initially cast some doubt on Little Big Bear’s participation due to an injury setback suffered before Royal Ascot. However, O’Brien confirmed that Little Big Bear will indeed compete in the July Cup rematch against Shaquille.

The Irish trainer stated that everything has been progressing well for Little Big Bear since recovering from a stone bruise and missing several days of exercise. Only time will tell how this temporary setback may have affected him.

    Dettori Seeks Final Triumph

Veteran jockey Frankie Dettori had hoped to add a victory in the July Cup to his illustrious career before retirement. Unfortunately, a suspension picked up at Royal Ascot prevents him from ending his racing journey with this prestigious title.

Dettori was replaced by William Buick aboard Ralph Beckett’s Kinross, who will now have the opportunity to ride in the July Cup. While Buick is a capable substitute, it is undoubtedly a bittersweet moment for Dettori.

    Excitement Builds for the Race

The stage is set for an exhilarating Pertemps Network July Cup as Shaquille faces off against older and experienced sprinters. All eyes will be on this three-year-old phenom as he strives to secure another stunning victory and inch closer to claiming the title of champion sprinter this season.
