Rachael Blackmore Receives Honorary MBE for Sporting Achievements

Renowned jockey Rachael Blackmore has been awarded an honorary MBE in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the world of sport. The 33-year-old made history by triumphing in both the Grand National and Cheltenham Gold Cup, becoming the first female rider to claim victory in these prestigious events.

Blackmore’s remarkable success story includes being named the leading rider at the esteemed Cheltenham Festival in 2021. Additionally, she was honored with the BBC Sports Personality’s World Sport Star of the Year award that same year.

The Irish jockey’s partnership with Honeysuckle, a talented mare trained by Henry de Bromhead, is widely celebrated. Together, they achieved an impressive record of 17 wins out of 19 races, including two Champion Hurdles at Cheltenham.

Honorary MBEs are bestowed upon individuals from overseas who have demonstrated exceptional prowess within their respective fields while contributing significantly to Britain. Notably, legendary jockey Frankie Dettori received this prestigious honor back in 2001 for his remarkable service to racing.
