Recap of Epsom Races: Emily Upjohn Triumphs in the Coronation Cup with Jockey Dettori
Emily Upjohn Triumphs in the Dahlbury Coronation Cup
Emily Upjohn has emerged victorious in the Dahlbury Coronation Cup, leaving a quality field behind her. The daughter of Sea The Stars was biding her time before displaying a fantastic turn of foot to sweep past her rivals.
Last year, Emily Upjohn suffered an agonizing defeat at Epsom when she was beaten by just a short head in the Oaks due to a stumble on leaving the stalls. But this time around, jockey Frankie Dettori ensured that there were no such struggles.
A Comfortable Win for Emily Upjohn
Trained by John and Thady Gosden and priced at 11-4 odds, Emily Upjohn only threw down a challenge during the home straight but had plenty left in reserve as Westover closed towards home. She ended up with almost two lengths ahead of second place.
Gosden senior said: “She did it beautifully. We had planned Dubai (Sheema Classic), but she didn’t come to herself in spring so we waited…”
