Soul Sister ruled out for the rest of the season

Soul Sister’s Campaign Comes to an End

In a surprising turn of events, Soul Sister’s three-year-old campaign has abruptly concluded, leaving fans and connections eagerly anticipating her return next season. Under the guidance of renowned trainers John and Thady Gosden, this daughter of Frankel initially had a disappointing reappearance in the Fred Darling race. However, she quickly rebounded by storming to victory in the Musidora Stakes at York.

Her impressive performance at York instantly catapulted her into contention for Classic success at Epsom just a month later. With jockey Frankie Dettori skillfully guiding her reins on the iconic Surrey Downs track, Soul Sister thrived over the extended distance of 12 furlongs – delivering Lady Bamford her second fillies’ Classic triumph after a remarkable 14-year gap since Sariska’s win in 2009.

Although Soul Sister showcased incredible strength on multiple occasions throughout her career, it was evident that she needed time to further develop and mature both physically and mentally before returning as a four-year-old. Her last notable appearance saw her finish third against colts in the Grand Prix de Paris; however, due to a minor setback during training, it was decided that she would temporarily retire from racing.

Charlie Gordon-Watson, racing manager for owner-breeder Lady Bamford assured enthusiasts that this decision was purely precautionary and aimed at ensuring Soul Siter’s readiness for the upcoming season. He confidently stated, “She’s not the strongest at the moment, but she’ll undoubtedly strengthen up and be even better next year. It’s a prudent move to give her ample time to fully recover and flourish.”

As Soul Sister heads off to Lady Bamford’s Daylesford Stud for a well-deserved respite, fans are already eagerly counting down the days until her return as a four-year-old sensation. With her proven talent and expected growth during this hiatus, it seems certain that Soul Sister will make an impressive comeback on the racing scene.
