Triple Time considering participation in Prix Jacques le Marois

Triple Time Looks Set for Prix Jacques le Marois

A son of the legendary Frankel, Triple Time is making waves in the racing world after his impressive victory in the Queen Anne at Royal Ascot. Trained by Kevin Ryan, this colt had a promising start as a juvenile with two wins out of four races. However, his appearances were limited last year to just two outings.

Last year, he clinched victory in the Group Three Superior Stakes in September but finished seventh in the Prix Daniel Wildenstein on Arc weekend. After being withdrawn from the Lockinge Stakes due to stomach cramps and having his first run since October, Triple Time defied all odds as a 33-1 shot and triumphed over a formidable field at Ascot.

The race included top-class winners such as Inspiral, Modern Games, Angel Bleu, and Native Trail. Under jockey Neil Callan, Triple Time crossed the finish line with a neck to spare over Inspiral. The connections of Inspiral are also considering sending her to Deauville for another shot at winning there.

Adam Ryan, assistant to trainer Kevin Ryan expressed their satisfaction with Triple Time’s performance: “Triple Time has come out of the race absolutely fine and done very well… To do that against Group One horses who had already raced this season was great.”

Although Triple Time holds an entry for the Sussex Stakes and currently stands as third-favorite behind Paddington and Inspiral, it seems likely that he will head to France instead. Connections are favoring an appearance at Deauville’s August 12 Group One contest -the Prix Jacques le Marois- which provides more favorable timing and a more conventional track.

Adam Ryan explained: “It is tough because you have to make the entries, but at the same time it is never firmed up… Horses map their own way out. Group One horses, we all know the races for them.”

The Hambleton-based yard has a history of sending runners abroad, and Triple Time’s success earned him an expenses-paid berth to the Breeders’ Cup Mile at Santa Anita in November. The Ryans have achieved notable results in previous international events such as finishing second with East in 2018 and securing a victory with Glass Slippers in the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint two years later.

Regarding a potential trip to the US at the end of this season, Adam Ryan emphasized that decisions are made by those above his pay grade: “Those sort of decisions are for people above my pay grade… It is nice to have those sorts of options to talk about.”

Triple Time’s win in the Queen Anne stakes has already solidified his status as a top-class horse. With retirement on the horizon and future stallion duties ahead, each race becomes even more important for him now.
