Unexpected Turn of Events in the Flying Five: Moss Tucker Steals the Spotlight

Moss Tucker Triumphs in Thrilling Al Basti Equiworld, Dubai Flying Five Stakes

In a race filled with surprises and unexpected outcomes, it was the unheralded five-year-old Moss Tucker who emerged victorious in the prestigious Al Basti Equiworld, Dubai Flying Five Stakes. Despite facing tough competition from some of Britain’s finest horses, Ken Condon’s talented runner defied all odds to claim the €236,000 first prize.

With just two appearances at this level under his belt, Moss Tucker proved he had what it takes to compete against the best. While spectators focused their attention on Art Power and his closest rivals Bradsell and Highfield Princess on the near-side group, it was Charlie Hills’ Equality that provided Moss Tucker with an ideal tow throughout the race.

The two groups eventually merged with two furlongs left to run. While fancied runners showed signs of distress, Billy Lee-guided Moss Tucker still had plenty of stamina left in him. In a thrilling finish, he managed to hold off Clive Cox’s Get Ahead and outlast Equality who displayed great bravery by leading from the front until late stages of the race.

Speaking after the victory, Condon expressed his delight: “It’s absolutely fantastic to win such an important race at The Curragh during Irish racing’s most significant weekend. The progression and improvement we’ve seen from this horse have been remarkable.”

“We were hoping for a place finish which would have been outstanding already but then we got lucky with rain pouring down about an hour before our race. That definitely played into our hands,” Condon added.

Billy Lee, the jockey aboard Moss Tucker, also shared his admiration for the talented runner: “Ken and I have a deep love for this horse. He’s been an incredible servant to us and has consistently climbed up the ranks.”

“He truly is a magnificent horse. Although we’ve had a relatively quiet year as a team, this single victory makes all the difference,” Lee continued.

The highly-favored Highfield Princess disappointed many as she could only manage fifth place, with Art Power finishing just behind in sixth position.
