Belgian cyclist, Wout van Aert, has emerged victorious once again in the Tour of Britain, securing his second championship title. The thrilling final stage saw Spain’s Carlos Rodriguez clinch the stage win.

Heading into stage eight, Van Aert held a narrow three-second lead over a group of ten riders in the overall standings. Rodriguez launched an impressive attack during the uphill battle but needed to beat Van Aert by at least 39 seconds to claim the general classification crown.

In a nail-biting finish, Rodriguez managed to cross the finish line just 11 seconds ahead of Van Aert. However, it wasn’t enough to dethrone the Belgian champion who ultimately won with a three-second advantage.

Jumbo-Visma’s talented rider now adds this year’s triumph to his growing list of achievements after also claiming victory in 2021. Tobias Halland Johannessen from Uno-X secured second place in the general classification while Damien Howsen from Q.36.5 finished third representing Australia.

New Zealand’s James Fouche showcased his climbing prowess and was awarded the king of mountains prize for being the best climber throughout this exciting tournament.
