Two Quarterfinal Scorelines Recorded
In completed matches at the 2026 FIFA World Cup quarterfinals, England beat Norway 2-1. Argentina defeated Switzerland 3-1 in the other finished game.
The two results came from the last-eight round that got underway on Thursday after a day off. Scores for the remaining games will be filled in as final whistles blow.
Eight Teams Remain, With New Faces
Just eight teams remain in this year’s tournament. All eight are still dreaming of holding the World Cup aloft later this month.
France and Argentina met in the World Cup Final four years ago. Both are still alive, along with 2022 semifinalist Morocco.
England reached the quarterfinals in Qatar and is back as well. That leaves four new quarterfinalists from 2022: Spain, Norway, Switzerland, and Belgium.
Norway and Switzerland are among those first-time qualifiers this cycle. Both were eliminated in the scorelines already recorded.
Unplayed Quarterfinals
The eight-team roster and known results leave two quarterfinals still to be played. France will face Morocco in one of those matches.
Spain is set to meet Belgium in the other unplayed game. All listed match times are Eastern.
