Alcaraz targets Cincinnati return
Carlos Alcaraz has entered next month’s Cincinnati Open, signalling that the world number three is edging closer to a comeback from the wrist injury that sidelined him in April.
The seven‑time Grand Slam champion last competed at the Barcelona Open before the problem forced him to withdraw from both the French Open and Wimbledon, costing him the chance to defend his Roland Garros title.
He will also skip the Canadian Open in Montreal, which runs from 2‑13 August. He plans to play the Cincinnati Masters from 13‑23 August as a final test before the US Open, where he arrives as the reigning champion.
Sinner dominates Masters circuit
Jannik Sinner has captured all five Masters 1,000 titles contested so far this season and will headline the Montreal draw after winning Wimbledon for a second consecutive year.
Alcaraz is the defending champion in Cincinnati after Sinner retired from their final last year because of illness, setting up a potential rematch if both advance deep into the tournament.
British hopes shift to Fery
Emma Raducanu will not feature in Cincinnati after pulling out of Wimbledon with a stress fracture in her lower leg; the 23‑year‑old is now racing to be fit for the US Open, which begins on 30 August.
Jack Draper would need a wildcard to compete, while new British number one Arthur Fery has earned a direct spot after rising to a career‑high ranking of 36 following his run to the Wimbledon semi‑finals.
